HearthwellCommunity Interest Company
About us

Everyone deserves a place to belong

We are a UK community interest company built on a simple belief: a person's circumstances should never decide whether they get the support they need.

Our story

Why Hearthwell was founded

Hearthwell began with a question: why do so many people in the UK miss out on support that should be basic — a friendly voice, help with a job application, a community to belong to?

We met people who were isolated, struggling and being turned away because services were too expensive, too far away, or simply unaware of them. So we started a different kind of organisation: small, local, affordable and built around people.

Our name says it all — the hearth is the warm centre of a home, a place of welcome. Our work aims to give people that warmth, wherever they are.

Our mission

To provide affordable social support, community connection and skills-building to people across the UK who cannot otherwise access them — prioritising low-income families, unemployed adults, older people living alone, single parents and vulnerable communities.

Our vision

A UK where no one is left to cope alone — where every person has somewhere to turn for support, someone to connect with, and the chance to build the skills they need to thrive.

What we stand for

Our values

People first

Every decision starts with the people we serve — not with targets, systems or convenience.

Affordable by design

Cost is never a barrier to care. Wherever possible our services are free, and always within reach.

Local and connected

We work alongside communities and partners, strengthening the places where people actually live.

Dignity always

We treat everyone with warmth and respect, without judgement and without stigma.

Our structure: a community interest company

How we're structured

A community interest company

Hearthwell is a Community Interest Company (CIC) — a legal structure in the UK designed for social enterprises. This means our assets and profits are locked for the benefit of the community; they can never be extracted for private gain.

Our activities are regulated by the CIC Regulator, and we must meet a community interest test. This structure gives donors, volunteers and partners confidence that every contribution is used to further our social mission.

Registered in England and Wales · Company number 00000000.
